TRINIDAD & TOBAGO BRINGS THE TRUE CARIBBEAN TO
WORLD TRAVEL MARKET, 12- 16 NOVEMBER 2007

As ever, the Trinidad & Tobago stand (CA1025) is a hive of activity throughout World Travel Market 2007 with a plethora of events and initiatives taking place.

To reduce carbon emissions, Trinidad & Tobago has invited media and travel partners to ‘journey’ to the double destination on their simulated ‘flight deck’ on the stand. The room, located on the upstairs deck, has been fitted to look like the inside of an aeroplane. From here press, agents and trade partners are able to experience Trinidad & Tobago through film footage, island images and the sights, sounds and smells of the islands. There’s still time to travel so please visit the stand to book your ‘flight’ on Trinbago Air.

Nova Alexander, Manager (UK, Ireland, Holland & Scandinavia), Tourism Development Company (TDC) of Trinidad & Tobago, has welcomed visiting tourism officials and over 100 stakeholder delegates and trade partners from Trinidad & Tobago, including the Honourable Neil Wilson from Tobago House of Assembly (THA).

Trinidad & Tobago is launching a new online training programme for agents. For home and flexible workers it has the added benefit of being accessible 24 hours a day and allows in-depth training on both islands. An example of the training programme is being showcased on the stand and integrated into the ‘Agents Passport Incentive’ organised by Travel Weekly. Agents will have to travel around the world at WTM receiving stamps on their passports from thirty different destinations – of which Trinidad & Tobago will be one. As an incentive to participate, agents will be put into a draw to win a place on the May 2008 FAM trip to the islands. However, agents will not be able to receive their T&T stamp without completing a short touch-screen training game.

Following the success of the ‘Take Some Time Out’ trade incentive, the ten winners of Trinidad & Tobago FAM trip places will all meet at WTM on Thursday to celebrate their achievements. The winners will travel from 6-13 December, with flights courtesy of British Airways. The incentive will continue throughout 2008 with another ten winners to be chosen. Agents are encouraged to register their Trinidad & Tobago bookings on www.panjibe.com for a chance to win.

Due to Trinidad & Tobago’s eco tourism and sustainability efforts, The Tobago Travel Foundation has been asked to conduct a presentation at the ‘Virgin Responsible Tourism Award’, on Wednesday 15 November at 4pm. The Government of Trinidad & Tobago has also submitted an application for the ‘Virgin Responsible Tourism Award’ and been granted permission to use the World Responsible Tourism Day logo.

Exciting news from Tobago includes the line-up of the 2008 Plymouth Jazz Festival and music-lovers can experience a taste on the stand where a Tobagonian Jazz Band and saxophonist Lascelles are playing. In previous years the Plymouth Jazz Festival line-ups have included prestigious, world-renowned artists such as Elton John, Diana Ross, Sting, LL Cool J, Mary J Blige, India Arie, Shaggy and Marcel Montano.

Visitors to the Trinidad & Tobago stand are having fun sampling traditional island Angostura Rum and Chocolates served by Duane Dove, who owns a cocoa estate in Tobago.
