What's new in 2008
The dual island destination of Trinidad & Tobago continues to
boost its tourism and MICE offering in 2008, with new product opening
on both islands and new, exciting reasons to visit ‘The True
Caribbean’.
New hotel: Hyatt Regency Trinidad
Opening in Trinidad’s capital Port of Spain in December 2007,
the Hyatt Regency Trinidad will be the tallest building on the island.
With a capacity of 428 rooms, this premier business hotel is the
first full-service hotel to open since 1962.
Part of the Port of Spain International Waterfront Centre, the hotel
provides the latest in meeting facilities, technology and luxury
with 43,000 square-feet of flexible meeting space; including 10,000
square-feet of multi-purpose space equipped with translation facilities
and a 16,000 square-foot ballroom. Smaller groups will be comfortable
meeting in one of the seven high-tech meeting rooms in the Conference
Centre.
Guest rooms will have a modern flare, featuring bamboo floors, glass
enclosed showers, LG flat screen 32” televisions, I-home decks
and will be both wireless and wired for Internet. There are two
Penthouse Suites, eight Executive suites and 32 balconies overlooking
the Gulf of Paria.
The hotel also boats a fitness centre, ocean view infinity pool,
9,000 square-foot spa and several fine dining and lounge facilities.

New constructions: Golden Grove Hotel Project and Culloden Eco Resort,
Tobago
Two Tobagonian properties are expected to commence construction
during the first quarter of 2008, with an anticipated completion
date of 18-24 months. These are the Golden Grove integrated hotel
and resort project in the South West of the island, and the Culloden
Eco-Resort Project on the Northern Coast of the Tobago.
Airport renovations: Crown Point International Airport, Tobago
Tobago’s Crown Point International Airport is currently undergoing
some minor renovations to increase the capacity of the arrival and
departure lounges. The extra space should become effective by mid
December, 2007. Additionally, tenders are expected to go out for
the construction of a new terminal building in early 2008. Further
