ROD STEWART ROCKS TOBAGO AT THE 2008 PLYMOUTH JAZZ FESTIVAL
Legendary British rocker Rod Stewart brought the house down this week as the final act of the Plymouth Jazz Festival on the idyllic Caribbean island of Tobago.
Playing to an audience of over 17,000 people, headliner Stewart opened his set with Nothing But a Heartache and went on to perform a string of top hits including Downtown Train, Maggie May, Do You Think I’m Sexy? and Tonight’s the Night. He also wowed fans with his football skills when he kicked a number of signed footballs into the crowds during his number Hot Legs.
Over the course of three days, the Plymouth Jazz Festival 2008 played host to an array of household names and musical talent including Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Shakira, Smokey Robinson, En Vogue and Britain’s own Steel Pulse. The global acts were complemented by local Tobagonian and Caribbean artists and the festival culminated with a stunning fireworks display against the backdrop of the Caribbean Sea.
In its fourth year, the Plymouth Jazz Festival drew crowds of over 40,000 people during the weekend from all corners of the globe. In recent years it has attracted stars such as Elton John, Al Green, Earth Wind and Fire and Natalie Cole.
